New Beginnings

I am really excited to be launching the site at such an exciting time of the year for colour, fashion and new beginnings.

Creating my site has been a labour of love, but the main thing I love about it is the new and exciting concept of VIRTUAL CONSULTATION.  Colour First is offering a new approach to colour analysis which allows even the busiest of us to benefit from discovering our best colours.  All from the comfort of your own home, office or coffee shop you can receive a colour analysis and discover your seasonal pallet and your wallet of all your blending colours.  You can also discover your exciting ZING colours - the colours within your seasonal pallet that are the most impactive with your skin tone, hair and eye colour.  Prior to my colour analysis way back when if someone had said you should wear green I would've sent them off to the nearest optician.  Green is one of my zing colours and now I have SO much green!

Also offered alongside a virtual consultation is a FULL MAKE-UP PACKAGE. A perfect pallet for your colouring including eyeshadows, blusher, mascara, eye liner and lipliner plus two lipsticks - an everyday 'wear with anything' colour and a more glamorous and stronger 'evening' colour.

The site also offers a WEEKLY TOP TIP when I will share my experience and knowledge of colour, style and cosmetics and also a full cosmetics page where you can quickly order any products to replenish your supply of First Impressions* cosmetics.  From a rainbow of lip colour to lash-building mascara - in brown (highly recommended above black any day!), navy and black; light and long-lasting concealers and fantastic foundations which are so easy to apply yet last all day.  With Aloe Vera and Vitamin E First Impressions cosmetics are perfect for creating colour and balance as well as being hypo-allergenic and  kind to your skin.  And of course, not tested on anything cute and furry.

Please have a look at and send me a contact note either with feedback on what you think of the site and any comments (constructive or otherwise) or just send a quick 'Hi Jo'.  The first 50 people to contact me via the site will be entered into a free prize draw for £25 worth of First Impressions cosmetics.  So spread the COLOURFIRST word and let your friends and family into the exciting world of colour, too!

Back to summer wardrobes.  I think the high street has translated the catwalk brilliantly this season (and I don't often say that!)  There are SO many wearable and practical trends.  Below are the key trends to look out for in the shops and with a few easy ways to update your wardrobe.  Not as much detail as my normal newsletter but I hope a short, sweet and succinct overview saving you time trawling the shops and magazines.  But as always consider a WARDROBE RE-VAMP first.  By getting rid of the bobbly winter woollies, and the gloomy greys you will create a better setting for your new bright items in your wardrobe.

NAUTICAL but nice.  Stripes have gone smart and minimal, best not to overdo them and tone down with tan accessories and knotted add-ons - on shoes, belts, bags.  BUNCH OF FLORALS can look gorgeous and colourful, but can easily enlarge the body shape.  Play it safe with tones of florals that blend rather than those that contrast, keep the flowers/pattern soft.  FLARES ARE BACK I wouldn't rush out and buy 5 pairs but a key neutral pair in one of your seasons base colours can be vamped up with some pretty sandals and a blazer or toned down with pumps and a fitted t-shirt or tucked in shirt.  Just don't fall short on the length!!

BASIC BAGS. The classic bag shape is back but go for some serious colour whether you're buying a large tote or small over the shoulder with simple buckles. SIMPLE SANDALS - wear with pretty much everything,  chunkier soles are really key and add height without a heel - ideal!! Shop in Clarks and Office.  JACKETS have made a huge come-back this season.  And look so much more flattering and smarter than cardigans!  An array of colours & styles await you in the shops - my faves are in Zara - they're so wearable and (importantly) washable.
Your rejects can make a difference! Please contact me if you have any clothes or accessories you are discarding.  I will forward them to the Berkshire-based DASH charity helping victims of Domestic Abuse who are holding a second hand clothes sale in June in Windsor.
As always, please get in touch if you would like any advice or to re-order any of your cosmetics running low then either contact me directly or for ease then use my new web-sites Products page.
And finally a lovely testimonial ....."Jo has a marvellous sense of colour and knows exactly what suits you. Her approach is gentle and light and before you know it, you’re looking with fresh eyes and a far greater understanding of what works. Now she’s taken me shopping, everything goes with everything and I can mix and match to my heart’s content. My sessions with her have left me feeling far more confident in my appearance and actually looking forward to choosing what to wear. Gone are the “Help - I haven’t anything to wear!” days. She’s taken the fear out of growing older and put the fun back in. Doing colour and style with Jo is transformative and brilliant and I heartily recommend her. Thank you, Jo!"  (L.Rond, Oxfordshire)

With very best wishes
